Scarborough man charged following shooting in Niagara Falls

At approximately 1:15 a.m. on Sunday, Sept. 29, 2019 2 District (Niagara Falls/Niagara on the Lake) uniform officers were called to the area of Lundy's Lane and Garner Road in the City of Niagara Falls following the report of a shot fired.

When officers arrived, one male was taken in to custody. No one was injured in the incident.

This is believed to have been a targeted incident following a dispute.

Thirty-two-year-old Dwight Hutchinson of the City of Scarborough is facing the following alleged charges:
    •    Possession of a prohibited firearm knowing its possession is unauthorized - C.C. sec 92(1)
    •    Possession of a loaded prohibited firearm - C.C. sec 95(1)(2)(a)(ii)
    •    Possession of a firearm knowing serial number has been tampered with - C.C. sec 108(1)(b)
    •    Discharge firearm with intent to endanger life - C.C. sec 244(1)
    •    Unauthorized possession of a firearm in a motor vehicle - C.C. sec 94(1)

Hutchinson is currently being held in custody pending a bail hearing at the John Sopinka Courthouse in the City of Hamilton via video link on Sunday, Sept. 29, 2019.
