Police looking for suspect in retirement building break and enters

Russell JOhn White is wanted in connection with multiple break and enters at a retirement building in Welland.

On June 9, 2023, Niagara Regional Police Service (NRPS) officers assigned to 3 District (Welland / Pelham) responded to a retirement building located in the City of Welland regarding a break and enter investigation.

Upon arrival, officers spoke with staff members who had reviewed surveillance footage and determined the suspect entered the premise at 12:05 p.m. and over the course of 20 minutes proceeded to enter six unoccupied unlocked resident rooms. When the suspect was observed by staff and confronted, he fled the area on foot. The suspect stole one 18” gold chain necklace and one cell phone.

Russell John White (60 years) of Niagara Falls has been identified as the suspect and is currently wanted for the following Criminal Code offences:

  • break enter and commit theft (two counts)
  • break and enter dwelling house with intent (four counts)
  • fail to comply with probation order
  • fail to comply with release order
