Police issue suspect, vehicle descriptions in St. Catharines homicide investigation

12 p.m. update:
The Niagara Regional Police Service Homicide Unit continues to investigate the circumstances of a homicide that occurred on Monday, April 12, 2021 in the area of Glenridge Avenue and Marsdale Drive in the City of St. Catharines.

Detectives remain in the area canvassing for witnesses and surveillance video at the time of the incident and are appealing to the public for anyone who may have captured footage on their residential or dashcam surveillance systems.

Officers are specifically seeking any footage in that area that captures and matches or is similar to the following criteria between the hours of 6 and 10 p.m.:
    •    Mercedes Benz
    •    E-Class or S-Class model
    •    newer model
    •    dark blue or black
    •    four-door 

Or:
    •    Dodge Ram
    •    pickup truck
    •    four-door grey
    •    REBEL written on side of box
    •    Ontario licence BE 95676

Or:
    •    two black males
    •    slim build
    •    approximately 6’0” tall
    •    last seen walking south on Marsdale Avenue towards Glendale Avenue

Anyone with information, or who may have witnessed the incident is asked to call detectives at (905) 688-4111 ext 1009132.

Original release:
At approximately 8:30 p.m. on Monday, April 12, 2021, 1 District (St. Catharines/Thorold) uniform officers responded to the area of Glenridge Avenue and Marsdale Drive in the City of St. Catharines.

When they arrived they located a 32-year-old male with gunshot wounds. He was transported to hospital where he was pronounced deceased.

The investigation is in its preliminary stages. A male was taken into custody however charges have not been not laid at this time.

Detectives do not have reason to believe there is an ongoing threat to public safety.

There continues to be a uniform presence while police hold the scene. People are asked to stay out of the area. Anyone with information, or who may have witnessed the incident is asked to call detectives at (905) 688-4111 ext. 1009132.
