Police investigating theft of a purse that included an urn in St. Catharines

The Niagara Regional Police Service is currently investigating a theft from a parked Jeep in St. Catharines.

The initial investigation has determined that on July 3, 2021, the victim had parked her Jeep Cherokee in a parking lot on Welland Avenue at the corner of Court Street. The victim left her black leather purse in what she believed to be a locked vehicle.

When the victim returned to the vehicle a short time later she discovered that her purse and its contents had been stolen.

Inside of the purse was a blue velvet bag containing a black metal urn with the remains of her husband. A black leather men's wallet with his Ontario Drivers Licence and possibly a previously cancelled Visa and Mastercard was also inside of the purse.

The investigation thus far has not been able to locate the purse, its contents, or the suspect(s). 

The victim and the police are requesting the public’s assistance in recovering the very sentimental items.

Anyone who may have information about this incident, or the location of the stolen items is being asked to contact the officers at 905-688-4111, extension 1024233.
