Detectives from the 1 District – St. Catharines detective office from the Niagara Regional Police Service (NRPS), are investigating a BB Gun incident at Joe McCaffery Park in St. Catharines.

On Thursday, March 25, 2021, at approximately 8:50 p.m., 1 District uniform officers were called to Joe McCaffery Park at 61 Vansickle Road, in St. Cathairnes.

The initial investigation by officers determined that at approximately 8:45 p.m. four male teenagers (17-18 years old) were in the park on the play equipment.

They noticed a mid-sized SUV enter the park. The SUV parked in a way that its headlights were pointed in the direction of the teens. The SUV remained parked for a few minutes.

The teens could not see the SUV very well due to the bright lights in their eyes.

Two of the teens were suddenly hit with BBs fired from the direction of the SUV. It is estimated at least 10 shots were fired. The dark coloured SUV then left the area.

Two teens suffered minor injuries but declined emergency medical services.

The identity and number of occupants in the dark coloured SUV is unknown.
