Police called after stranger drives child home, gives him money

On April 16, 2021, 1 District St. Catharines uniform officers from the Niagara Regional Police Service responded to a report of a suspicious person in Thorold.

Officers met with an 11-year-old boy and his family. The initial investigation determined on that on April 15, 2021 between 5:30 and 6 p.m., the boy had been walking home in the area of Front Street North and McNamara Street in Thorold. An unknown adult male who drove by the boy offered him a ride home. The boy accepted the ride and his bike was loaded into the trunk. The boy was driven home, and prior to getting out of the car the boy was given a small sum of money.

The boy was not injured.

The incident was assigned to detectives from the 1 District detective office, who were assisted by detectives from the Child Abuse Unit.

The adult male has been described as:
    •    White male
    •    Long blonde hair in a bun and a hat
    •    Beard/moustache

Clothing description:
    •    Lumberjack/construction worker long red polo shirt with plaid
    •    Construction vest
    •    Blue jeans
    •    Black shoes
    •    Sunglasses

The vehicle bring driven by the unknown adult man is described as:
    •    Black Infinity Q60 four-door sedan with tinted windows
    •    Loud/custom exhaust system
    •    Cloth interior
    •    Bearing an Ontario number plate with a partial marker "HIQ1"
    •    The vehicle may also be a Tesla Model 3

At present, no crime has been alleged.
