Cops arrest second teen in connection with Midway shooting

Police identified a second male allegedly involved in a shooting at the Great Canadian Midway that killed one person and wounded two others.

Three teenagers were shot as a result of the gunfire that occurred in Niagara Falls on April 8. One died at the scene and two others were transported to hospital.

On Wednesday, Aug. 10, police arrested an 18-year-old male from Mississauga, who is facing multiple charges, including robbery, theft, and possession of a firearm.

Because the suspect was under 18 at the time of the offence, the Youth Criminal Justice Act prohibits the release of his identity.

Further investigation has led to the identification of a second male alleged to have been involved in this incident.

On Wednesday, Aug. 10, 2022, an 18-year-old male from Mississauga was arrested and is facing the following charges:

  • Robbery – contrary to Section 344 of the Criminal Code
  • Unauthorized possession of a firearm – contrary to Section 91(1) of the Criminal Code
  • Possession of a firearm in a motor vehicle – contrary to Section 94(1) of the Criminal Code
  • Possession of property obtained by crime – contrary to Section 354(1) of the Criminal Code
  • Theft of motor vehicle – contrary to Section 333.1(1) of the Criminal Code
  • Fail to comply with undertaking – contrary to Section 145(4) of the Criminal Code

As the suspect was under 18 at the time of the offence, his name is not being released as per provisions of the Youth Criminal Justice Act.

The male is currently being held in custody pending a bail hearing on Wednesday, Aug. 10, 2022 at the Robert S.K. Welch Courthouse in the City of St. Catharines.
