Police arrest potentially armed suspect following weapons calls in Niagara Falls

The suspect refused to exit the Niagara Falls residence but surrendered to officers after prolonged negotiations

On July 23, 2022, at 12:45 p.m., 2 District Niagara Falls uniform officers responded to a house in Niagara Falls regarding a weapons call.

Officers arrived on the scene and determined a firearm may be involved. A person in the house refused to exit and surrender themselves. The house was contained by officers of the NRPS Emergency Task Unit. After prolonged negotiations with NRPS crisis negotiators at 7:15 p.m., the person surrendered to officers and was arrested.

The investigation has been turned over to detectives from the 2 District detective office. The house is being held pending a search warrant.

Road closures in the area have been opened.

More information will be released as the investigation continues.
