Police arrest 22-year-old from Burlington for making threats through text message

Police say investigation revealed that the suspect allegedly threatened another Niagara student and made comments about a firearm being brought to campus

On Nov. 18, 2021, detectives assigned to 2 District (Niagara Falls), Criminal Investigative Branch received information involving a student at Niagara College (Niagara-On-The-Lake) campus making death threats via text messages.

Investigation revealed the suspect threatened another student and made comments surrounding a firearm being brought to the school campus. There was no imminent threat to any students, the campus itself or Niagara Colleges employees.

Kyle Marsden (22 years) of Burlington has been arrested and charged with one count of uttering threats, contrary to section 264.1(2) of the Criminal Code of Canada.

Marsden was held for a bail hearing on Nov. 19, 2021, to appear via video link to the Robert S.K. Welch Court House, located at 59 Church Street, in the City of St. Catharines.
