One person dead, two injured in St. Catharines shooting

On Sunday, June 12, 2022, at approximately 3:40 a.m., 1 District (St. Catharines) uniform officers responded to the area of Pleasant Avenue and Lake Street in the City of St. Catharines for reports of a shooting.

Upon arrival, officers discovered three victims as a result of this incident. One victim was pronounced deceased at the scene. Two other victims were transported to hospital. The second victim suffered serious injuries and was transported to an out-of-town hospital for treatment. The third victim is currently being treated for non life threatening injuries.

The Niagara Regional Police Service Homicide Unit has assumed control of this investigation and are appealing to any witnesses or anyone in the area with dashcam or surveillance footage to contact police regarding this incident.

The area where this incident occurred has been closed to traffic while officers investigate and process the scene.

This investigation is in the initial stages and no further information is being released at this time.
