Niagara Police wrap training exercises early

May 13 update:
The Niagara Regional Police Service Explosive Disposal Unit (EDU) and Emergency Task Unit (ETU) have completed their training and will not be conducting training on May 14, 2021.

Original May 11 release:
On Thursday, May 13 and Friday, May 14, 2021, the Niagara Regional Police Service Explosive Disposal Unit (EDU) and Emergency Task Unit (ETU) will be conducting training in the area of Thorold Townline Road and Highway 20 in Thorold.

The training will occur between the hours of:
    •    May 13, 2021 – 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.
    •    May 14, 2021 – 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Members of the public in the area should expect:
    •    An increased police presence
    •    The sound of explosions
    •    The smell of smoke
    •    The sound of simulated guns shots

There will also be signage in the area.

The public and media are asked to stay away from the training sites for their safety and the safety of the officers involved.
