Niagara Falls traffic stop leads to numerous drug, weapons charges (4 photos)

Officers seized firearms, ammunition, and suspected fentanyl, crystal meth, and cocaine

On Dec. 14, 2021 at 12:55 p.m., a traffic stop was conducted by detectives with the 2 District Street Crime Unit with the Niagara Regional Police Service (NRPS) on a red Toyota in the area of Dunn Street and Stanley Avenue in the City of Niagara Falls.

Investigation led to officers identifying the driver as a male who was failing to comply with his release order and as a result he was placed under arrest. A female was also in the passenger seat of the vehicle.

A search incident to arrest was conducted and officers located approximately 2.4 grams of fentanyl and $3,870 in Canadian currency. The estimated street value is $720.

Subsequently, officers executed a  search warrant in a room at a motel in the area of Dunn Street and Stanley Avenue, Niagara Falls.

Police seized two firearms, ammunition, fentanyl, crystal methamphetamine, cocaine, scales and drug packaging, drug paraphernalia, and two cell phones.

The total weight of the controlled substances located was:
    •    fentanyl - 0.4 grams
    •    cocaine - 52.2 grams
    •    crystal methamphetamine - 68.4 grams

The total street value of the controlled substances is estimated to be $12,180.

Adam C. St. Louis (38 years old) of Niagara Falls was arrested and charged with the following offences of:
    •    possession of a schedule I substance (fentanyl) for the purpose of trafficking
    •    possession of proceeds of crime
    •    possession of a schedule I substance (fentanyl) for the purpose of trafficking
    •    possession of a schedule I substance (cocaine) for the purpose of trafficking
    •    possession of a schedule I substance (crystal methamphetamine) for the purpose of trafficking
    •    unauthorized possession of a firearm (two counts)
    •    possession of a firearm knowing its possession is unauthorized (two counts)
    •    possession of a restricted firearm with ammunition
    •    possession of a firearm knowing the serial number has been tampered with
    •    careless storage of a firearm
    •    fail to comply with release order (six counts)

St. Louis was held in custody pending a bail hearing that was expected to take place on Dec. 15, 2021.

Alexandra Garbutt (27 years old) of Welland, was arrested and charged with the following offences of:
    •    possession of a schedule I substance (fentanyl) for the purpose of trafficking
    •    possession of proceeds of crime
    •    possession of a schedule I substance (fentanyl) for the purpose of trafficking
    •    possession of a schedule I substance (cocaine) for the purpose of trafficking
    •    possession of a schedule I substance (crystal methamphetamine) for the purpose of trafficking
    •    unauthorized possession of a firearm (two counts)
    •    possession of a firearm knowing its possession is unauthorized (two counts)
    •    possession of a restricted firearm with ammunition
    •    possession of a firearm knowing the serial number has been tampered with
    •    careless storage of a firearm

Garbutt was held in custody pending a bail hearing that was expected to take place on Dec. 15, 2021.
