Niagara Falls man charged following altercation with BB gun

Police say the 31-year-old was in possession of a replica Sig Sauer P226 pistol as well as a hatchet

On March 27, 2024, at 8:26 p.m., 2 District (Niagara Falls / Niagara on the Lake) uniform officers from the Niagara Regional Police Service (NRPS) responded to a report of a disturbance involving a man armed with a gun in Niagara Falls.

Officers attended a parking lot in the area of Stanley Avenue near Ferry Street and arrested the man. He was found to be in possession of a replica Sig Sauer P226 pistol, this replica Sig Sauer was found to be a loaded BB gun. The man was also found to be in possession of a hatchet.

Jessie Neto De Oliveira (31 yrs.) of Niagara Falls has been arrested and charged with the criminal offences of:

  • Possession of Weapon for Dangerous Purpose (2 Counts)
  • Carrying a Concealed Weapon (2 Counts)
  • Breach of Probation 

Further to these charges Neto De Oliveira had outstanding arrest warrants for: 

  • Breach of Probation
  • Fail to Appear for Fingerprints

Neto De Oliveira was held in custody for a video bail hearing to the Robert S. K. Welch Courthouse in St. Catharines on March 28, 2024.

There were no injuries sustained as a result of this incident.
