Mississauga man charged with human trafficking in Niagara Falls

Faces numerous charges including assault, procuring and withholding documents

In early September 2019, detectives with the Human Trafficking Unit of the Niagara Regional Police Service commenced an investigation in relation to the alleged trafficking of a female.

Investigation has revealed that the female over the age of 18 was trafficked in connection with an area hotel in the City of Niagara Falls.

On Monday, Sept. 23, 2019, detectives arrested and charged a 25-year-old male in relation to this investigation.

Twenty-five-year-old Jessie Tubbs of the City of Mississauga is facing the following alleged charges:

  • Trafficking in persons (exercising control) 279.01(1) CC
  • Material benefit 279.02(1)CC
  • Material benefit from sexual services 286.2(1) CC
  • Procuring 286.3(1)CC
  • Withholding documents 279.03(1)CC
  • Assault 266 CC

Tubbs is currently being held in custody pending a bail hearing at the Robert S.K. Welch Courthouse in the City of St. Catharines on Tuesday, Sept. 24, 2019
