Missing 84-year-old found dead in Niagara Falls waterway

The missing person investigation into the location of Louis Anderson has been ongoing since early October.

On Dec. 2, 2020, officers from the Niagara Parks Police, the NRPS Marine Unit, and 2 District uniform officers responded to a waterway in Niagara Falls for a report of a discovery of a deceased person.

Detectives from the 2 District office of the NRPS and the Forensic Services Unit attended with the Coroner. The body was transported from the scene to Toronto for further examination.

The deceased has been identified as Louis Anderson. Foul play is not suspected.

Out of respect for the next of kin no further details are being released.

On Oct. 8, 2020, [84-year-old] Louis Anderson was last seen in the area of Main Street and Sophia Avenue in Chippawa at approximately 2 a.m. Family members discovered Louis missing later that morning at approximately 7 a.m.

Louis is believed to have left the family home overnight. His means of transportation is believed to be by foot.

Louis is described as being:
    •    White
    •    5’9
    •    150 lbs

Clothing description:
    •    Red cap
    •    Winter jacket (white with black trim)
    •    Black track pants

Police are concerned for Louis' welfare and are requesting the public's help in locating him.
