On Oct. 10, 2020 at approximately 3:50 p.m., 8 District (Grimsby) uniform officers attended the area of The Beamer Conservation Area Trail, located at 28 Quarry Road, in the Town of Grimsby, in response to a missing person.

Officers arrived on scene and were advised an 8-year-old boy was missing and was last seen running northbound on the trail toward the end of the hike, near Gibson Street. The boy was last seen at 3:00 p.m.

Due to the lack of daylight remaining in the day, NRPS Marine unit, K-9 Unit and other uniform patrol members were dispatched to assist. There were multiple hikers in the area who volunteered to remain on the trail and search for the boy. Local residents were contacted and advised police that they had not seen him reach the end of the trail.

After a lengthy search, NRPS received a phone call from a residence located in the area of Main Street West, in Grimsby, advising that a young boy had knocked on their door and stated that he was lost.

Officers attended the residence and confirmed it was the missing child. He was returned to his mother.

The boy was healthy and in good spirits.

The Niagara Regional Police Service would like to thank the public for their assistance.
