Man charged after allegedly harassing cheerleaders

Detectives from the Niagara Regional Police Service (NRPS) 1 District St. Catharines Criminal Investigations Branch and the Cyber Crimes Unit have been conducting a harassment investigation. 

The investigation revealed a local man had been repeatedly contacting members of the Niagara IceDogs cheerleading team since January 2019, both in person and via the internet, causing concerns with the five victims which were reported to police.
 
On Oct. 19, 2019, 30-year-old John Edwards of the Town of Fort Erie was arrested and charged with the alleged criminal offence of:
  • Criminal Harassment (5 counts)
Edwards was held in custody pending a video bail hearing on Oct. 20, 2019.
