Loaded semi-automatic firearm, drugs seized in Niagara Falls (5 photos)

Two suspects face a number of drug, weapons charges as a result

Since March of 2021 detectives from for the 2 District – Niagara Falls Street Crime Unit have been investigating the sales of illegal drugs from a unit at a motel in the area of Ellen Avenue and Centre Street in the City of Niagara Falls.

As a result of the investigation on March 24, 2021 two suspects were arrested. During the arrest police located a loaded semi-automatic firearm on one of the suspects.

Subsequently, detectives executed a warrant at that location and seized 6.0 grams of green fentanyl, 9.8 grams of crystal methamphetamine and 10.1 grams of cocaine. In total, the amount of drugs seized is estimated to be at a street value of $3,790.

Todd Petkovich (57 years old), of Niagara Falls was arrested and charged with the following offences of:
    •    Possession of proceeds of crime under $5,000
    •    Possession of a schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking. (fentanyl)
    •    Possession of a schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking. (crystal methamphetamine)
    •    Possession of schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking. (cocaine)

Petkovich was held in custody pending a bail hearing that is expected to take place on March 25, 2021.

Nicholas Muraca (30 years old) of Bolton, Ont. was arrested and charged with the following offences of:
    •    Possession for the purpose of trafficking (fentanyl)
    •    Possession for the purpose of trafficking (cocaine)
    •    Possession for the purpose of trafficking (crystal methamphetamine)
    •    Possession of proceeds of crime
    •    Possession of a prohibited firearm knowing its possession is unauthorized
    •    Possession of a prohibited firearm with ammunition
    •    Tampering with serial number
    •    Careless storage of a firearm
    •    Unauthorized possession of a prohibited firearm

Muraca was held in custody pending a bail hearing that is expected to take place on March 25, 2021.
