Grimsby porch thieves also charged with Fort Erie break and enter

On Jan. 23, 2024, Niagara Regional Police Service (NRPS) 5 District (Fort Erie) officers arrested and charged Franklin Lewis (33 yrs.) following an investigation into property related crimes in Fort Erie.

In early January 2024 detectives from the 8 District (Grimsby/Lincoln/West Lincoln) office of the NRPS commenced an investigation into the theft of Amazon packages from front porches in Grimsby. Detectives were able to obtain suspect images from members of the public. Detectives were then able to identify the male and female suspects as Franklin Lewis and Laura Jenkins (34 yrs.) of Hamilton. The investigation also determined Jenkins was criminally involved in a Fort Erie break and enter with Lewis.

On Jan. 24, 2024, Franklin Lewis of Hamilton was arrested and charged with the Criminal Code offences of:

  • Theft under $5000 (5 Counts)
  • Possession of property obtained by crime

On January 25, 2024, Laura Jenkins of Hamilton was arrested and charged with the Criminal Code offences of:

  • Theft under $5000 (5 Counts)
  • Possession of property obtained by crime
  • Break and enter commit

Lewis and Jenkins were held in custody for video bail hearings to the Robert S. K. Welch Courthouse in St. Catharines. They were both ordered held in custody and are scheduled to re-appear in court on Jan. 26, 2024.
