Four teens arrested in drug investigation

Since the beginning of Sept. 2020, investigators with the Niagara Regional Police Service have been investigating the alleged sale of Fentanyl by a group of individuals in the Niagara Region.

On Sept. 4, 2020, at approximately 11:55 a.m. members of the Intelligence Unit arrested four people in a hotel parking lot in the area of Lundy’s Lane and Belmont Ave in the City of Niagara Falls.

Further investigation led to the seizure of a quantity of Fentanyl with an estimated street value of over $156,000 along with over $7,800 in currency.

18-year-old Amnit Johal, 18-year-old Rayshaud Deane, 19-year-old Janny Boodhu as well as a 17-year-old female, all from the City of Brampton are facing the following charges:

  • Possession for the purpose of trafficking to with Fentanyl - Section 5(2) CDSA
  • Possession for the purpose of trafficking to wit Cocaine - Section 5(2) CDSA
  • Possession of Proceeds of Crime Over $5000 - Section 355(a) CC]

Johal, Deane, and Boodhu are currently being held in custody pending a bail hearing on Saturday, Sept. 5, 2020, via video at the John Sopinka Courthouse in the City of Hamilton.

The 17-year-old female cannot be named due to provisions of the Youth Criminal Justice Act.
