Fort Erie man killed after tractor flips over guard rail near Kitchener

A Dunnville man has been charged with dangerous operation causing death

On Aug. 24, 2021, as a result of the ongoing investigation, Waterloo Regional Police charged a 61-year-old Dunnville male in connection to the fatal collision on Sandhills Road in Wilmot Township. He has been charged with dangerous operation causing death.

On Friday, July 16, 2021, at approximately 4:45 p.m., Emergency Services responded to a single-vehicle collision on Sandhills Road in Wilmot Township.

A farm tractor was travelling south on Sandhills Road, pulling a newly purchased grain trailer from Listowel to Dunnville when it struck the side of the bridge spanning Highway 7-8.

The collision forced the tractor over the guardrail, causing the trailer to flip. 

The passenger, a 64-year-old Fort Erie male, was ejected and sustained severe injuries. He was transported to hospital where he was pronounced deceased.

The 61-year-old male driver from out of Region was uninjured.

The road remained closed overnight for the investigation and for repairs to the guardrail.
