Fatal motel fire under investigation in Niagara Falls

On Thursday March 25, 2021, at approximately 9:19 a.m., emergency service personnel responded to a report of fire at a motel on Stanley Avenue in Niagara Falls.

2 District – Niagara Falls uniform officers arrived on scene at the Courtside Inn on Stanley Avenue near Emery Street in Niagara Falls along with personnel from the Niagara Falls Fire Service and Niagara Emergency Medical Services. The fire was primarily found to be coming from a single room in the motel. A deceased person was found in the room.

Further details about the deceased are not being released at this time as we attempt to notify the next of kin.

The cause of the fire and death remain under investigation by detectives from the 2 District detective office, the Coroner and the Ontario Fire Marshal’s office. Detectives from the Niagara Regional Police Service (NRPS) Forensic Services Unit are also on scene assisting with the investigation.

There had been road closures on Stanley Street during the initial stage of this incident. Those road closures have been cleared.
