On Dec. 28, 2020 at approximately 4:48 a.m., 5 District (Fort Erie) uniform officers with the Niagara Regional Police Service (NRPS), the Fort Erie Fire Department and Emergency Medical Services, attended a residence in the area of Crescent Road and Englewood Court in the City of Fort Erie in regards to a house fire.
Officers arrived on scene and observed the house fully engulfed. Investigation revealed that an adult male sustained life threatening injuries. He was pronounced deceased at the scene.
Detectives are working with the Ontario Fire Marshal’s Office as they continue to investigate the cause of the fire and the cause of death.
The identity of the deceased has not been confirmed.
The scene is expected to be held for several days as the investigation continues.
