Deceased identified in Lincoln Halloween night shooting

Niagara Regional Police Service have released more details about a shooting that took place in the Town of Lincoln over the Halloween weekend.

An updated news release issued this morning reads as follows:

On Sunday Nov. 1 2020, at approximately 12:10 a.m., 8 District (Grimsby) uniform officers with the Niagara Regional Police Service (NRPS), attended the area of Fracchioni Drive and Cachet Court, in the Town of Lincoln in response to a suspicious person complaint.

Upon arrival, police learned that the sounds of gunshots were heard in the area and a search resulted in police locating a deceased male in a residence. The male has been identified as Jay Alexander (20 years old) from Toronto, Ontario.

Anyone with information, is asked to contact detectives with the Homicide Unit at 905-688-4111, dial option 3, badge #9132.

Anyone who may have been in the area with dash cams and residents with video surveillance, are asked to review their video footage and contact detectives or Crimestoppers if they observe anything suspicious.

The Homicide Unit has assumed control of this investigation and the public is expected to see a heavy police presence in the area for the remainder of the day.

This appears to be a targeted incident.
