Cyclist dies in Niagara Falls collision

Police say the collision occurred between cyclist and motor vehicle travelling north on the Niagara Parkway; the cyclist died at the scene

On Sept. 24, 2022, at 11:20 a.m., Niagara Regional Police Service (NRPS) officers assigned to 2 District (Niagara Falls/Niagara-on-the-Lake), alongside the Niagara Parks Police Service (NPPS), Niagara Falls Fire Department (NFFD), and Niagara Emergency Medical Service (NEMS), responded to a serious motor vehicle collision on the Niagara Parkway between Victoria Avenue and Whirlpool Road in the City of Niagara Falls.

Upon arrival, officers determined an adult male was cycling north on the Niagara Parkway approximately 200 meters north of Victoria Avenue when a collision with a motor vehicle occurred. The motor vehicle was also travelling north on the Niagara Parkway. As a result of the collision, the cyclist was pronounced deceased at the scene. The identity of the deceased is not being released.

Detectives assigned to the NRPS Collision Reconstruction Unit have assumed carriage of the investigation. They are being assisted by the NRPS Forensic Services Unit and the Niagara Parks Police Service.

Businesses in the area are encouraged to review their CCTV footage, and motorists who were in the area with an operational dash camera are encouraged to review their recordings and contact the lead detective at 905-688-4111, option #3, ext. 1009433.
