Arrest made in Welland shooting investigation

Feb. 17 update:
On Feb. 17, 2021, 2 District (Niagara Falls) uniform officers arrested the suspect.

Montana Noonan (22 years old) of Welland, was arrested and charged with the following offence of:
Assault with a weapon

Noonan was held in custody pending a bail hearing that is expected to take place on Feb. 18, 2021.

Original Feb. 16 release:
On Feb. 15, 2021 at approximately 9:54 p.m., 3 District (Welland) uniform officers attended the area of Lincoln Street and Prince Charles Drive, in the City of Welland in response to a shooting.

Investigation revealed that a 22-year-old male and a 24-year-old male had been involved in an altercation during which, the 22-year-old male [is alleged to have] shot the 24-year-old male.

The victim sustained minor physical injuries as a result of the shooting.

Montana Noonan (22 years old) of Welland is still outstanding and wanted for the following offence of:
    •    Assault with a weapon

Noonan is described as being:
    •    White
    •    Male
    •    5’10
    •    140lbs
    •    Brown hair
    •    Brown eyes

Noonan has ties to Welland, and was last seen in the area of Lincoln Street and Prince Charles Drive.

This was a targeted incident.
