Arrest made in February break and enter in Fort Erie

In February of 2020 uniform officers from the 5 District – Fort Erie office of the Niagara Regional Police Service (NRPS) attended a residence in the area of Bertie Street and Stanton Street in Fort Erie for a report of a break and enter.

As a result of that investigation it was determined that approximately $2,250 worth of goods was stolen from a shed on the property. Items stolen included power tools and an E-bike. Detectives continued the investigation into the break and enter.

On March 18, 2020, detectives arrested and charged Gregory Garfield Watson (49 years old) of Fort Erie with the alleged Criminal Code of Canada offences of:  

  • Break, enter and commit s.348(1)(b)  
  • Fail to comply probation order s. 733.1(1)

Watson was held in custody in order to attend a bail hearing on March 18, 2020, at the Robert S. K. Welch Courthouse in St. Catharines.
