Arrest made after stolen vehicle recovered in Niagara Falls

Vehicle was reported stolen from Niagara-on-the-Lake parking lot on Monday evening

On Monday, May 20, 2024 at approximately 6:45 p.m., 2 District (Niagara Falls/Niagara-on-the-Lake) uniform officers with the Niagara Regional Police Service attended the area of Taylor Road and Glendale Avenue in the Town of Niagara-on-the-Lake following the report of a stolen vehicle.

Investigation revealed that between the hours of 5 and 6:45 p.m., a male had his black Lexus stolen from a parking lot in the area.  

Officers attended, then through subsequent investigation, located the vehicle in the area of the Walmart parking lot located at 7481 Oakwood Dr. in the City of Niagara Falls, along with another stolen vehicle parked right beside it.

As a result of the investigation, officers were able to identify the suspect and placed him under arrest.

Peter Verba (32 years old) of Niagara Falls, was arrested and charged with the following offences of:
    •    Theft of a motor vehicle
    •    Fail to comply with probation order

Verba was held in custody pending a bail hearing on May 21, 2024 at the Robert S.K. Welch Courthouse located at 59 Church St. in the City of St. Catharines.
