On April 4, 2021 at approximately 6:28 p.m., 3 District (Welland) uniform officers, the Welland Fire Department and Emergency Medical Services attended the area of Alberta Street and Ontario Road in the City of Welland in regards to an assault/motor vehicle collision.
Investigation revealed that a 28-year-old male was allegedly assaulted by two males with a crowbar. As a result, the victim fell on the street and was then struck by a black Chevrolet pickup truck being driven by a 69-year-old male.
The victim was transported to a hospital with life-threatening injuries.
Suspect 1 is described as:
• Male
• White
• 45 years old
• 6’4
• 240 lbs
• Wearing a tan-coloured coat
Suspect 2 is described as:
• White
• Male
• 25 years old
• 5’9
• Wearing a purple and white hoodie
Through their investigation, detectives have determined that this was a targeted event.
The investigation remains ongoing by detectives with 3 District and the Collision Reconstruction Unit.
