3 vehicles significantly damaged, 1 driver charged in NOTL crash

On Thursday April 20, 2023, at 9:40 p.m. emergency services personnel responded to a report of a serious three-vehicle collision in Niagara on the Lake.

Uniform officers from the 2 District – Niagara Falls / Niagara on the Lake office of the Niagara Regional Police Service arrived on scene near the intersection of Scott Street and Stewart Road. Paramedics from Niagara Emergency Medical Service and personnel from Niagara on the Lake Fire Service were providing aid to those involved in the collision. A passenger from one of the vehicles was treated and transported by paramedics to a local hospital with minor injuries.

The initial investigation determined that a grey Toyota had collided with a green Chevrolet pick up truck causing the Chevrolet to flip over onto its roof. While the Toyota and Chevrolet where in the middle of the roadway a silver Land Rover, struck both vehicles. The secondary impact forced the Chevrolet into an adjacent ditch. 

Damage estimates:

  • Grey Toyota - $7,000
  • Green Chevrolet pickup - Totaled.
  • Silver Land Rover - $20,000

The driver of the grey Toyota, a 70-year-old man from St. Catharines has been charged with making an improper turn under the Highway Traffic Act of Ontario.

The involved vehicles were all towed from the scene and the roadway re-opened at 11:19 p.m.
