22-year-old charged in relation to Fort Erie stabbing incident

Update:
As a result of the investigation, Detectives with 5 District (Fort Erie), from the Niagara Regional Police Service (NRPS) were able to identify the suspect.

On Sept. 30, 2020, the suspect was arrested.

Michael J. Velemirovich (22 years old) of St. Catharines, was arrested and charged with the alleged following offence of: 

  • Aggravated assault

Velemirovich was held in custody pending a bail hearing, expected to take place on Oct 1, 2020 at the Robert S.K Welch Courthouse located at 59 Church St. in the City of St. Catharines. 

Detectives are not looking for further suspects.

On Friday, Sept. 18, 2020 at approximately 5:46 p.m., 5 District (Fort Erie) uniform officers with the Niagara Regional Police Service (NRPS) attended the Big Texas Bar, located at 129 Niagara Pwky, in the Town of Fort Erie for a report of a stabbing.

Officers arrived on scene and located a male victim suffering from a stab wound. The victim was transported to an out of region hospital in serious but stable condition. 

The Niagara Regional Police are seeking the public’s help in identifying two suspects and a suspect vehicle.

Suspect one description:

  • Male
  • Indigenous/Latino
  • 5'10’
  • Medium build
  • 20-25 years old
  • Brown hair in a bun
  • Unshaven

Clothing Description:

  • Wearing a green/blue Nike jacket

Suspect two description:

  • Male
  • White
  • 5'9
  • 20-30 years old
  • Brush cut 

Clothing description

  • Grey sweater 

Suspect Vehicle:

  • Black Mercedes or Black BMW
  • Last seen southbound on Niagara Pkwy toward the Peace Bridge
