Ontario reports 795 people hospitalized with COVID-19, 253 in ICU on Saturday

Ontario is reporting 795 people in hospital with COVID-19 and 253 people in intensive care.

Saturday's hospitalization figures represent a slight decrease from Friday, when 821 people were in hospital with the virus and 262 were in intensive care.

The province reported 18 more deaths from the virus.

There were 1,930 new COVID-19 cases reported Saturday, though the true number is likely higher due the current virus testing policy.

Fifty-eight long-term care homes in the province were reporting outbreaks as of Saturday.

The province says 89 per cent of residents aged five and older have at least one COVID-19 vaccine dose, 85 per cent have two shots and 50 per cent have three.
