March 31, 1939 – September 9, 2021.

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the sudden passing of Emily Lorraine Vaughan, who passed away on Thursday, September 9, 2021 at the Greater Niagara Hospital. Survived by her loving husband Stanley Vaughan. Dear Mother of Paul (Carolyn), Marie (Paul) and her twin sister Missy. Predeceased by her son Marty. She was the cherished Nanny of Sara, Amber, twins Billy and Emily, Matthew, twins Sophie and Jamie, and great grandson Blair. Survived by her partner in crime, her ever loving sister, Marie.

She is fondly remembered by many nieces, nephews and friends. In her younger years, Emily played many sports. One of her highlights was playing catcher for the Merritton Ladies Softball Team and winning the Ontario Championship. That winning team was inducted into the Thorold Sports Runway of Recognition in 2011. Later in life, Emily had a very successful Real Estate career. After the tragic loss of her son Marty, she founded the Compassionate Friends of Niagara, a support group for bereaved families. She later co-founded the Bereavement Resource Council of Niagara, which she held until she retired. Emily had a love for country music and was self-taught in piano, autoharp and vocals.

Stan and Emily joined the Grant Carson Band and they played many venues in Ontario. Between her and band mate Jackie Carson, they designed the band outfits that were worthy of the Grand Ole Opry. Friends will be received at Bocchinfuso Funeral Home 2 Regent Street, Thorold on Monday, September 13, 2021 from 2-4 and 7-9 PM. A private family memorial service will be held. All guests must bring and wear their mask and follow all Provincial Covid Guidelines. If desired, in lieu of flowers, donations to the Kidney Foundation would be appreciated.
