Van DYKE, Lena May (nee Mansell)

It is with great sadness we announce the very peaceful passing of Lena on Saturday, October 7, 2023 at the St. Catharines General Hospital at the age of 93.  Predeceased by her husband of 69 years, Alan, in April of 2022.  At the age of 21 Lena came to Canada from Middlesbrough, England, finding work here as a chemist’s assistant until her marriage in 1953.  Lena and Alan’s love of travel took them many places around the world.  Also sharing in a love of animals having two St. Bernards and cats.  Lena’s life was dedicated to the Lord, becoming a People’s Warden at St. George’s Church in St. Catharines from 1976 – 1977 and also hosting and teaching bible study groups in her home for many years.  Lena’s love and kindness towards others and the spiritual guidance she gave will truly be missed.  This beautiful soul who now has gone home to be with her Lord and Saviour has touched so many lives.  Her continual support of numerous charities was inspiring.  Life on this earth has to mean something and hers did.  Oh how we will miss her.  In keeping with Lena’s wishes, cremation has taken place.  A Memorial Service for Lena will take place at Considerate Cremation & Burial Services, 26 Nihan Drive, St. Catharines (between Lake Street & Scott Street), 289-362-1144 on Thursday, October 19, 2023 at 2:00 p.m.  A private interment at Victoria Lawn Cemetery will take place at a later time.  Online condolences may be made at CCBSCares.ca
