Surrounded by his wife and family, Sherman peacefully passed away at Hospice Niagara on Wednesday, October 25, 2023 at 81 years of age.  Son of Charles and Sarah Smith (pre-deceased).  Beloved husband of Gisele (nee Rouleau) and loving father to Gail Fischer (Chris Fischer) and Tracey Smith (Dave Flynn).  Proud grandfather to Bronwyn Fischer (Emma Workman) and Hannah Fischer (Eric Gordon).

The seventh of eight children, he was a dear brother of Lilda Schwartz (Wilfred) and Ethel Yach (late Mervin).  He will be remembered by his sister & brother-in-law, Myreille & Larry Garreau, and his many nieces, nephews and their families. Sherman was predeceased by his siblings & their spouses; Cora (Carl) Sparling, Harvey (Fern) Smith, Minerva Sparling, Charles Jr. (Jean) Smith and Dalton (Sharon) Smith.

Sherman was a highly celebrated District Manager of Singer Canada Marketing Division for over 35 years, a Singer Store proprietor and former co-owner of Aylmer Marina Restaurant.

Sherman was a generous and gregarious person who loved hosting and meeting new people!  He loved playing cards, a good game of pool, golfing and hunting.  He loved his dogs and horses with his whole heart.  Special mention to Tex who was always with him and with whom he had a special bond. Lola, Tommy, May, Hazel, Brinkley & Chevy always brought him great joy in later years as well.

In honouring Sherman’s wishes a private family service and interment will take place at a later date.

Special thanks to Paula Lawrence at Palliative Care Niagara, his palliative nurses, Indrajeet & Babes, his countless PSWs and the truly outstanding, incomparable staff and volunteers at Hospice Niagara. So grateful for the kindness and care shown by Bruce Keating McClelland and Considerate Cremation & Burial Services. Sherman and his family will be forever grateful to all.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations to Hospice Niagara would be appreciated.  https://donate.mytributegift.org/Service?cid=90fcbd19769ef9baf182d57d3114d732b567e5cb5fbbc3ccadd4ec1f259f1712
