1943-2023

With heavy hearts we announce the peaceful passing of our beloved J. Mark Roussel, on September 18th, 2023, in his 81st year.  Husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, brother and uncle.  He leaves behind his loving wife Meredith Roussel, his sons John and Christian and adored grandchildren Tyler and Kylee Roussel.  Also survived by his son William McAnerney and grandsons William JR, Brandon, Alexander and their children, Mark’s great grandchildren. Siblings Helena, Elaine, Romeo, Cecile and many nieces and nephews.  Predeceased by his sister Leona, mother Eva Blondin and grandparents Edmond Roussel and Victoria Chicoine.

Mark was raised in the Gaspe peninsula.  He came to Niagara in 1966. He was a proud Gaspesian, spoke often about his younger years and loved going "DOWN HOME" until his health would not permit him anymore.

Mark spent most of his career as a proud truck driver, both as an Owner Operator and Company driver. Everybody knew him as "Grumpy”.  He was an avid car racing fan especially Nascar.  His most memorable and enjoyable times were spent with his family travelling and living at the trailer during the summer months.

"This is something I wasn't ready to write.  I thought we would have more time with you, more chats on the phone, more stories to share.  But the time we spent together and the memories we have created mean more than anything to us"

- C. Roussel

In honouring Mark’s wishes, cremation has taken place.  Funeral Mass will take place at Our Lady of the Holy Rosary Church, 21 Queen St. S, Thorold, Ontario, on Saturday, October 21st, 2023, at 1 p.m.  Followed by the reception at the Canadian Corps Unit #44, 7 Clairmont St., Thorold, Ontario.  Memorial donations to the Heart & Stroke Foundation of Ontario would be appreciated.  Arrangements entrusted to Considerate Cremation & Burial Services, 26 Nihan Drive, St. Catharines (between Lake Street & Scott Street), 289-362-1144.  Online condolences may be made at CCBSCares.ca
