ROBSON, Elda Mary (nee Baldoni)

It is with great sadness that we announce that our adored mother, Elda, passed away on Thursday, November 2, 2023 the NHS-St. Catharines Site with her family at her side.

Elda was the first child of Nello and Clara Baldoni.  Wife of the late Donald Robson (2016).  She is the cherished mother of, Karen, Rick (Cathy), Kim Bridgman (Ken), Nello and Jack Robson.  She was proud to be 2nd mother to Ron (Cassie) Arneill.  Loving grandmother to eleven grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.  It was a joy for Mom to meet her newborn great-grandson just days before her passing.   The unconditional love and affection she had for all her family will never be forgotten.  She will continue to be an inspiration to all of us.

She will be fondly remembered by her siblings; Edzio Baldoni (Lynn), Brian Baldoni and Linda Hambling (Bill).  Predeceased by her sisters; Eleanor Clark (Ken) and Mary Minniti.

She also leaves many nieces, nephews, cousins, brother and sisters-in-laws and friends who will dearly miss her.

Elda grew up on her parent’s fruit farm on Vine Street in St. Catharines.  She married Don Robson in 1950 and together they raised their family and owned and operated D.J. Robson Underdrainage.  Elda was the office manager and accountant for their business.  Many years later, once the business was no longer in operation and her children were grown, Elda pursued and realized her dream of owning her “own” business.  She was ahead of the times, when she opened an “upscale” kitchen specialty store called “That Kitchen Place”.  After a number of years, and with boundless energy, enthusiasm and innovation she transformed the retail store into one of St Catharines’ first cafés “That Kitchen Café”.  The café became a successful lunchtime eatery for many years.  After the lunchtime crowd was gone and Elda was closing for the day, underprivileged individual’s who roamed about the area, knew they could go to the café and she would share the days leftovers with them.  During all the years she worked in business, she was widely admired and respected for her hard work, resourcefulness and honest work ethics.

The greatest part of Elda’s life revolved around sharing time with her children, large extended family and friends. She loved a get together for any occasion to enjoy meals and bbq’s etc.  She had a great sense of humour and wit that lasted right up to her final days.  She will be remembered as a very kind and caring person who would always help anyone in need and always put others before herself.  She will be missed dearly.

She has gone on to her most exciting journey, to meet up with her loved ones who went before her.  OMG… Elda, Eleanor and Mary together again!  Have a wonderful journey Elda, it is your time to fly and be free from all worries and work.  You have more than earned it.

In honour of Elda, and her deep religious beliefs, the family will hold a funeral service at 11:30 am on Thursday, November 9, 2023 at St. Denis Roman Catholic Church, 230 Lake Street, St. Catharines.

Arrangements entrusted to Considerate Cremation & Burial Services, 26 Nihan Drive, St. Catharines (between Lake Street & Scott Street), 289-362-1144.  Online condolences may be made at CCBSCares.ca
