1932 - 2023
Went home to be with her Heavenly Father in her 92nd year on the evening of Thursday, October 12, 2023. June is predeceased by her devoted husband of 65 years, Harold Damude, parents Ernie and Ethel Selway, and brothers Russel and Raymond Selway. June was a loving mother of Nancy Bruzzese (Rory) and Gwen Stickney (Derrick). June was the cherished grandmother of Kyle (Jimi), Conor (Shelby), Matthew, Noah, Deanna, and great-grandmother of Evan, Hayley, Cooper and Kaiden.
June grew up in the village of St. Davids assisting her parents in the family butcher shop. After graduating Stamford Collegiate, she worked in the business office at Bell Canada before leaving to start her next career as devoted wife and partner to Harold whom she married in 1955. Together, they ran the Apple Bin on Hwy 20 in Fonthill for over 40 years until its closure in 2017. Since that time, she has been a resident of the Lookout Ridge Community.
Throughout her life, Mom was an avid wordsmith and enjoyed finding the meanings of new words. She enjoyed reading and writing and was always drafting various notes and letters. She enjoyed working with children as a former Sunday School teacher and also as a tour guide educating school groups on the workings of the family farm. She supported many charities and was a fierce advocate for those in need. Her love of crafts was well known at Lookout Ridge, but possibly her greatest joy was spending time with family and hearing about their lives. June was a dedicated wife and mother. She treasured her family and embraced every moment with them. She loved her role as 'Grandma J'.
We will all miss that beautiful, big smile.
The family would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude for the outstanding care and compassion shown by the staff at Lookout Ridge, the palliative team and the various PSW's that cared regularly for her.
Friends and Family are invited to attend a visitation at the PELHAM FUNERAL HOME, 1292 Pelham Street, Fonthill, on Friday, October 20th from 2:30-5:30 pm.
The funeral service will take place on Saturday, October 21st in the chapel at Lookout Ridge beginning at 11:30am. Interment will follow at the Fonthill Cemetery.
