It is with profound sadness that we announce the peaceful passing of Franco Cotroneo, at home with his family, on August 3, 2023, in his 90th year.

Beloved husband of Annina for 65 years and cherished father of Anna Marie Cotroneo, Joe and Angie Cotroneo, and Cathy and Elio DiMarco. Loving Nonno to Mikayla and Krystina Cotroneo and Michael DiMarco. Dear brother-in-law to Angelo and Luisa Chirico and Halina and the late Joe Chirico, as well as caring uncle and great uncle ‘Zio Franco’ to many nieces and nephews. Predeceased by his parents Giuseppe and Maria Cotroneo, siblings Teresina and Giorgio Cotroneo, father-in-law and mother-in-law Giovanni and Caterina Chirico and brother-in-law Domenico Chirico.

Franco immigrated to Canada in 1954 and had a love for Canada and everything it had to offer. He was an avid gardener, winemaker, outdoorsman and enjoyed serenading his family and friends with old Italian classics while strumming his guitar. Franco was a family man to his core and well known for the love and respect he showed everyone. Never short of a good story to tell or life lesson to give, Franco truly valued taking care of his family and friends. He was the most generous, loving and kind man who touched the lives of many. We are blessed to have had many years of memories and he will always be in our hearts.

Relatives and friends will be received on Tuesday, August 8, 2023 at Bocchinfuso Funeral Home 2 Regent Street, Thorold from 2:00 – 4:00 PM and 7:00 – 9:00 PM. Vigil Prayers recited at 3:00 PM. Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Wednesday at 11:00 AM at Our Lady of The Holy Rosary Church, 21 Queen Street South, Thorold. Rite of Committal Victoria Lawn Cemetery.
