It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Eleanor Dorothy Burkholder on April 16, 2023 at age 87.

She was the beloved wife of the late Byron ‘Peach’ Burkholder (1991). She is lovingly remembered as a caring and devoted mother to Richard (Nicole) and Barry (Carol-Anne); Treasured Nana to Keely, Haley (predeceased 2019), Jennifer (Drew), Katelyn (Shane) and William (Samantha); Cherished Nannie to Brady, Abigail, Wyatt, Thomas, Charlie and Leni;  Loving sister to Wayne (Suzanne) and Robert (Celine). She will also be remembered by her many beloved nieces, nephews, cousins and good friends.

Also predeceased by her parents Violet and Howard Meginnis and her brother Elwood.  Eleanor was a  wonderful, caring woman who always thought of others before herself.  She was actively involved in the community of Thorold for many years -  from coach of diaper baseball league to secretary at the arena, to coordinator of playground programming. She also spent many years working at Henderson’s Pharmacy.    She loved a good game of scrabble and was a master at beating us.  She loved crosswords and scratch tickets.  Eleanor relaxed with knitting everything from afghans to slippers and baby blankets.  She enjoyed bowling and loved to play golf.

She spoiled her grandkids rotten with gifts and treats, especially on weekly Sundays visits.  More recently loved to watch her six great-grandchildren run around and observe the chaos with a grin from ear to ear.  Friends will be received at BOCCHINFUSO FUNERAL HOME 2 Regent Street Thorold ON Wednesday, April 19, 2023 from 2:00 – 4:00 and 6:00 – 8:00 PM.  A Funeral Service will be held in the Chapel on Thursday at 11:00 AM.  Interment Lakeview Cemetery.   If desired, memorial donations to Diabetes Canada in her memory.   Online condolences may be left at www.Bocchinfusofh.com

Mom / Nana, we will cherish all of your love and the memories we have forever, and you will always be in our hearts. We are happy that you are now at peace and reunited with Dad / Grandpa, Haley and all your loved ones who have passed.
