BOZZA, FILOMENA (née Maddalena) - It is with great sadness that our family announces the passing of Filomena Bozza on Tuesday, December 12, 2023 at the age of 92, surrounded by her family and friends.
Filomena is predeceased by her cherished husband Assuntino “Sandy” (August 8, 2017) of 66 years and her daughter Josephine (November 27, 1967). She is survived by her beloved son Tony (Rose), and daughter Anna (Brian). Proud Nonna will be missed and lovingly remembered by her grandson Christopher (Francesca) and granddaughter Andrea (Chris), and her great grandchildren Luca, Tessa and Livia.
Filomena was born in Castropignano, and immigrated to Thorold in 1950, with her beloved parents the late Domenico and Antoinetta Madeleine. Predeceased by her beloved sisters Maria (Clemente) Conte, Nancy (Wallace) Gordon, Joanne (Gino) Marchionda and Lucy Scobie and survived by her sisters Grace and Josephine. Also predeceased by her brothers and sister-in-law Gionvanni (Addolorata) Bozza, Nicola (Angela) Bozza and Cesina (Antonio) Ricciuto.
Aunty “Fil” (Filo) will be dearly missed by her many nieces and nephews and special friend Silva. She loved being surrounded by her family and friends and was described as a very special person, with a heart of gold who always put everyone else first, right until the end. She was known for her quiet sense of humour, her amazing cooking, traditional Sunday lunches and always providing a central gathering place for family and friends and could cook a meal for 20 at the drop of a hat. She loved their Florida adventures and ballroom dancing with her husband. She was a faithful parishioner of Our Lady of the Holy Rosary Church and loved her trips to Sainte Anne de Beaupre.
A heartfelt thank you to Dr. Harb and his team for the special care and support to our beloved Mom and family. Also, a special thanks to all of her loving caregivers for all their help and care. Visitors will be received at BOCCHINFUSO FUNERAL HOME 2 Regent Street, Thorold, on Sunday, December 17, 2023 from 1:30 - 4:00 and 6:00-8:00 PM. Vigil prayers will be recited at 3:30 PM. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at Our Lady of the Holy Rosary Church 21 Queen Street South, Thorold on Monday at 11:00 am. The Rite of Committal to follow at Lakeview Cemetery Mausoleum. Memorial donations to Hospice Niagara or FACS Niagara Foundation would be greatly appreciated.
