Despite getting down early, the Kitchener Panthers used a balanced attack to defeat the Welland Jackfish 10-5 on Thursday night during Intercounty Baseball League action.

The Jackfish opened the game in style for its home crowd, striking four times in the bottom of the first inning and adding one more in the second.
But the Panthers responded with three runs in the third inning. After that, the Panthers kept adding to the lead, scoring in every inning.

Eight different batters had hits for the Panthers. Jett Jarvis had two hits, three RBI and scored twice. Raul Gonzalez also had two hits and added two RBI, scoring once.

James Smibert led the Jackfish offence with a pair of hits, two RBI and scored once.

Panthers starter Yamichel Perez was fantastic on the mound, striking out eight, while only giving up two runs on five hits. Scott Gillespie took the loss.

The Panthers improve to 11-7 and will visit the Brantford Red Sox Saturday at 2 p.m. The Jackfish drop to 14-4 and take on the London Majors Friday at 7:35 p.m. on the road.
