INTERCOUNTY BASEBALL LEAGUE

Ryan Rijo had himself a day at the plate to propel the Barrie Baycats to a 14-2 win over the Welland Jackfish Saturday during Intercounty Baseball League action at Welland Stadium.
Rijo hit a grand slam in the fourth inning, in which the Baycats struck eight times. He also hit an RBI double in the fifth. Victor Plaz also had a big day at the plate, hitting a solo homer in the first inning, before he hit a three-run homer in the ninth.
James Smibert and Brandon Nicholson had two hits for the Jackfish.
Frank Garces pitched six innings for the Baycats, striking out six to get the win. Will Jackman took the loss.
The Baycats improve to 11-5 and visit the Kitchener Panthers Monday at 7:30 p.m. The Jackfish are now 13-3 and visit the Toronto Maple Leafs Sunday at 2 p.m.
Royals flush Majors
The Guelph Royals scored early in the first inning and then often in the fourth to defeat the London Majors 10-2 Saturday during Intercounty Baseball League action.
After scoring three in the first inning, the Royals got RBI singles from Malik Collymore, Darius Barlas, and Brando Leroux, while Ethan Hammond had a two-run double during the seven-run barrage.
The Majors responded in the fifth inning with RBI doubles from Keith Kandel and Myles Miller.
Yuki Narita was brilliant on the mound, pitching five innings, striking out seven, and giving up two runs on five hits. Pedro De Los Santos earned the loss.
The Royals improve to 5-11 and visit the Kitchener Panthers Sunday at 5:15 p.m. The Majors drop to 4-11. They host the Welland Jackfish Friday at 7:35 p.m.
