Jackfish stay hot, reel in 8th straight win

Welland’s win streak reached eight games Thursday night following a 6-3 win over the visiting Kitchener Panthers.

Gianfranco Morello went 3-for-3 atop the Jackfish lineup. He drove in a run and scored once. Justin Gideon, Sam Cawker, Mattingly Romanin and Matteo Porcellato all had an RBI, while James Smibert and Tyler Dupuis each had a pair of hits.

Casey Bouillere-Howard (2-0) picked up the win with an inning of scoreless, hitless relief, working around a walk. Chris Boatto earned his fourth save, a two-inning effort in which he scattered two hits and struck out three. Jake Harford started and went six innings, giving up three runs on eight hits with a walk and eight strikeouts.

Stephen Whalen drove in two of the Panthers’ runs, and Keegan Marsden had the other RBI. Jorden Carthy went 4-for-4 with a run and Liam Wilson singled twice

and doubled.
Christian Hauck (3-3) took the loss, giving up five runs on 10 hits over six innings. He walked one and struck out five.

First-place Welland improved to 22-6, and Kitchener fell to 11-17.
