Jackfish score 8-5 win over Kitchener Panthers

The win improves the Jackfish record to 10-2, who return to action Sunday when they host the Guelph Royals at 7:30 p.m.

After two days of postponed games because of the weather, the Welland Jackfish swam away with a 8-5 win over the Kitchener Panthers Thursday in Intercounty Baseball League action.

Hogan Brown led the way offensively for the Jackfish, with three hits and four RBI, including a bases loaded emptying double to right field in the sixth inning to bust the game open.

Gianfranco Morello and Steven Moretto also hit in RBI, in a game where the Jackfish scored once in the third, fifth and seventh innings, while adding two in the fourth and three in the sixth.

Eric Martin had a solo homer for the Panthers.

Chris Boatto ended up with the win on the mound, while David Bruinsma took the loss.

The win improves the Jackfish record to 10-2, who return to action Sunday when they host the Guelph Royals at 7:30 p.m. The Panthers, now 7-6, are on the road Friday against the Brantford Red Sox at 8 p.m.
