Make it 12 wins in a row for the Welland Jackfish.

The Intercounty Baseball League leaders defeated the Hamilton Cardinals 10-6 Thursday night at Welland Stadium.

James Smibert and Luis Jean led the offence, each hitting in 2 RBI. Smibert also had three hits, including a triple.

The Jackfish took an early lead thanks to a pair of runs in the second and one in the third.After the Cardinals tied things up in the fourth inning, the Jackfish responded with two in the fifth and sixth innings, before adding three in the eighth.

Dennis Dei Baning was the offensive catalyst for the Cardinals with three hits, three RBI and two runs scored.

James Bradwell was credited with the win, while Riley Young took the loss.

The Jackfish, now 12-2, hit the road Friday against the Brantford Red Sox at 8 p.m. The Cardinals drop to 9-7 and host the London Majors Friday at 7:35 p.m.

The Barrie Baycats pounded out 15 hits in a 15-3 win over the Toronto Maple Leafs Thursday during Intercounty Baseball League action at Vintage Thorne Stadium.

After Justin Marra opened the game with a solo home run for the Maple Leafs in the top of the first inning, the Baycats quickly responded with four runs in the bottom half.

Ryan Rijo added a solo homer in the third inning, before Marra knocked in another run in the fifth inning. But in the bottom half of that inning, the Baycats responded again with a pair.

The sixth inning is where the Baycats separated themselves after putting up a seven spot, led by Hayden Jaco’s grand slam.

Marra then added his second homer of the game in the eighth inning.

Jeifry Nunez earned the win on the mound, while Julian Valdez took the loss.

The Baycats, now 10-5, visit the Welland Jackfish Saturday at 6:05 p.m. The Maple Leafs drop to 10-6 and visit the Brantford Red Sox Saturday at 8 p.m.

The Kitchener Panthers used four runs in the first inning and four in the sixth to vault themselves to a 11-5 win over the London Majors Thursday during Intercounty Baseball League action at Jack Couch Park.

Eric Martin had three RBI to lead the Panthers, who added two runs in the seventh and one in the eighth. Liam Wilson had a two-hit night that included two RBI.
Cleveland Brownlee and Brad Verhoeven led the Majors with home runs.

Yamichel Perez pitched seven innings, giving up only five hits to go along with five strikeouts to get the win. Cam O’Reilly was credited with the loss.

The Panthers improve to 9-7 and host the Guelph Royals Sunday at 5:15 p.m. The Majors, now 4-9, visit the Hamilton Cardinals Friday at 7:35 p.m.
