Welland Jackfish jumped all over the Brantford Red Sox for a 17-1 abbreviated win. The game ended after 5 1/3 innings when the plate umpire was injured in a collision.

Matteo Porcellato led Welland with a 3-for-4 night, scoring two runs and driving in four. Tyler Dupuis added four hits and scored four runs with Justin Gideon and Gianfranco Morello each adding two hits.

Jon Dziomba had two hits for Brantford.

Mike Wagner (1-0) was the winning pitcher, giving up six hits and one run while walking only one and striking out five. Danny Garcia (0-1) took the loss, giving up 12 runs (10 earned) on 11 hits and three walks with three strikeouts in four innings.

Welland holds onto second place with a 28-11 record while Brantford fell to 2-35.
