INTERCOUNTY BASEBALL LEAGUE

BRANTFORD – Welland outfielder Brandon Hupe finished a home run short of the cycle to lead the Jackfish to a 6-3 win Friday in Brantford. Hupe also had an RBI as Welland moved to 2-2.
Tyler Dupuis drove in two runs on a pair of hits, while Dawson Tweet and Gianfranco Morello each had an RBI and a stolen base.
Jackfish righty Jake Harford went six innings for the win. He allowed three runs (two earned) on three hits with two walks and five punchouts.
For Brantford (0-2), Nick Burdett homered and drove in three. Jordan Lewis doubled and stole a base.
Isaiah Ramos (0-1) took the loss after giving up four runs on three hits over three innings. He walked two and struck out two.
Panthers pick up first win
LONDON – Kitchener is no longer winless, and London is no longer undefeated.
The Panthers, after four straight losses to open the season, picked up a 5-2 victory Friday night at Labatt Park.
Panthers’ starting pitcher Jose Vasquez (1-1) struck out 12 in a complete-game five-hitter.
Offensively, Nick Parsons went 3-for-5 with a solo home run in the win. Raul Gonzalez drove in two on a pair of singles and also stole a base, and Jett Jarvis went 2-for-5 with a run.
Andrew Lawrence had the lone RBI for London (4-1).
Jose Arias (2-1) took the loss, allowing three runs on eight hits over six innings. He walked three and struck out nine.
Baycats strike in extras against Cards
HAMILTON – The Barrie Baycats scored twice in the top of the 10th inning to pull out a 5-3 win Friday night in Hamilton.
Malik Williams went 3-for-4 and drove in Evan Soules with a one-out single in extras for the winning run. Williams scored an insurance run later in the inning.
Hayden Jaco went 3-for-5 with two RBI, Zac Orchard drove in a run, and Rick Phillips singled twice and swiped a pair of bags.
Cesar Rosado (1-0) went 2.1 innings for the win. He recovered after allowing the tying run in the ninth. Rosado walked one and fanned four.
Barrie starter Frank Garces struck out eight over six innings. He gave up two runs on six hits. The Baycats improved to 2-1.
Zach Marriott drilled a two-run home run for the Cardinals (2-1). Laine Renaud picked up an RBI, and Dennis Dei Baning singled, doubled and scored.
Alex Lanigan (0-1) was charged with two runs (one earned) on three hits and a strikeout in one inning of relief. Hamilton starting pitcher Brett Lawson struck out four over five scoreless innings. He scattered seven hits and walked one.
