Mayor Terry Ugulini is hoping a few brave souls might be willing to brave the wilds of Niagara’s southern tier this weekend and cheer on Team Thorold as the city’s cleverly-named hockey team competes at Sportsfest in Port Colborne.
In addition to the Mayor’s Cup Invitational Hockey Tournament, Sportsfest also features an indoor volleyball tournament, free family skating and swimming, music trivia, sno-pitch and outdoor ball hockey.
Team Thorold is scheduled to play Friday at 8 p.m. at the Vale Health & Wellness Centre at 550 Elizabeth Street, and again Saturday at 10 a.m. and noon. More games will be announced later if the team progresses in the tournament.
All proceeds are donated to various charities.
