Niagara Public Health reports two cases of COVID-19 and 14 recoveries on Tuesday - the lowest daily number in several months. Following the cases noted as recovered, 106 cases were considered active on Tuesday.

No new outbreaks were noted, leaving health-care facilities remaining free from outbreaks.

7 patients remain in hospital with one case admitted to ICU.

Across Ontario, 80 cases were registered on Tuesday, with another 80 included in the daily reporting due to a data lag from last year, said Ministry of Health officials, bringing the reported number to 164. In actual cases, this means it is the lowest daily increase since September 9.

With second doses being pushed forward, the number of fully vaccinated Niagara residents has kept rising, now coming in at 36 percent. 66.7 percent of Niagara residents have received at least one dose.

While Canada has seen significant increases in vaccine uptake in recent weeks, the global vaccination rate is significantly lagging. According to the latest available global health data, the number of people in the world with at least one dose is 24.5 percent.
